Mrs. Hemling’s Kindergarten Class Page!
Meet Mrs. Hemling
I was born in Wisconsin and lived there until we moved to Michigan when I was in 5th grade. (This is where I became a Lions fan.) From a young age I knew that I wanted to teach young children. I met my husband Tim in college and we got married after we graduated in 2001. We have two children Micah and Hannah. I attended Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2001. I started my teaching career in a small town in Nebraska where I taught grades K-3 for 8 years. Shortly after our son was born we moved back to Wisconsin where I stayed home with my children and ran an in home daycare for 3 years. I then returned to teaching and taught preschool for 4 years. In 2018 we moved to Florida where I subbed for the first year and after that taught PreK for 3 years. This is my second year at St. Paul’s and I’m so excited for this school year.
What’s Happening This Week
Here is what we are learning:
Jesus Time: We will see that God keeps his promises and leads his people into the promised land. Our lessons remind us that God always keeps his promises and watches over us.
Memory Treasure:
Revelation 2:10b Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
Matthew 28:20b And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age.
Reading: We will finish up our first Super Kids Club book this week and take a progress test. The children are continuing to read in their leveled reading groups.
Writing: We will continue to work on writing sentences. We will check over our work to make sure we used capital letters and a period or exclamation mark.
Math: We will work on our addition facts and use objects to help us act out the problems. We will continue to count dimes and pennies. We will learn how to read number words.
Science: This week we will see what happens to our paper sample when we add a drop of water to it. We will also make paper.
P.E.- We will learn the following movements: side step and leaping
